What can you do with a Blacksmithing profession?
You certainly don’t need a blacksmithing leveling guide to answer this question. And YES, I do get this question a lot. In order to answer it, I have narrowed the things a blacksmith does in World Of Warcraft into 5 main activities:
- Uses raw materials such as metal bars and gems to forge weapons and mail and plate armour.
- The blacksmithing profession also creates trade items that can be used by other professions. An example of this are the buckles for tailors and the rods that the enchanters use.
- Blacksmithers can produce keys that open certain chests and doors. Can you imagine the power you will have if you could make the key you need?
- They can also create buff weapons
- If you become experienced in blacksmithing, you can even get to the point in which you can craft special extra sockets into your gloves and bracers.
That said, there are a few things you have to keep in mind if you plan to become a blacksmith.
For starters, it would be a wise idea to be a miner first. You see, miners gather ore and smelt ore into bars to produce the majority of blacksmithing items. In that sense, blacksmith recipes often include jewels, which are found in a variety of places. Do you see the importance, now?
Also, as in any other profession, you will need to be serious about training. As in real life, if you don´t practice your skill you’ll be put off the market in no time. In the game… this means you’ll be out of it in no time. So, take your time and look for a trainer. Most likely you’ll find one in any major city. Ask a guard for directions in a major city. Blacksmithing trainers are normally located near a forge or anvil. After you have learned basic blacksmithing, open up your abilities book (hit “p”) and look for the “blacksmithing” icon that has been added to your abilities.
Now you will need some tools for your profession. Why not start with a blacksmithing hammer. You will need it each time you want to create any item.
Another important thing for you to know is that you can specialize. You can choose between two specialties: armour smithing and weapon smithing. The second one, weapon smithing, can be subdivided into axe, hammer and sword.
If by any chance you need more training, there are hidden trainers throughout the world who can teach you new and special recipes. You can also buy new recipes from other players or find them as drops from monsters. There are special quests specifically for blacksmiths.
As one of the main items crafted by blacksmiths are mail and plate armour, this obviously makes it more useful for classes able to use these armour classes such as warriors and paladins. These crafted items provide stat boosts like other items in the game.
As you can see, this profession is full of challenging activities and excitement. Take action and become a blacksmith. As always, you can use a blacksmithing leveling guide which will make your life a lot easier.
